Before the start of the new year major fashion brands preview the coming trends for hair, makeup, and of course fashion. Last year was a major flashback to the 90’s and it seems this year will be similar.

Bare faces, bleached eyebrows and heavy metals and metallics set the stage for the new year. More people are using tinted moisturizers and serums now versus the heavy matte foundations giving them the more natural look. I’m all for this as I’ve never cared for foundation myself. As for the new eyebrow trend, I will be skipping the bleach. Overall makeup style with return to the “grunge like” appearance from the 90s. Smudged and messy makeup is what we’re expected to see hitting the shelves. For lips, the matte look is out and shiny bright lips are in with a bold, statement lip alongside of minimal makeup. The colors will be in your face and bold-super opaque reds, purples, oranges and even browns and grays. Bright colors will also be used for eye shadow and blushes too creating a much more colorful palette.

Clothing trends for the New Year, the past will make an appearance here as well with the return of low rise jeans. Not only will low rise jeans be a hit in 2023 but so will flared and wide legged jeans as well. It seems the bigger the better as one big style trend will be over-sized everything. On the contrary to loose, corsets appears to be a big trend too. Sheer fabrics are making their return but with lots of layering. Cutouts are here to stay, as they have been trending for quite awhile. Say bye-bye to your maxi dress as it looks like mini dresses and skirts will be all the craze. Lastly, military inspired looks is to be big in 2023 with cargo pants and colors in surplus basics being on the hot list.

Last but not least we have hair trends that everyone needs to try in 2023, according to celebrity stylists. Most popular will be natural voluminous curls as well as showing off your natural texture and the bigger the better hair is to be hot in the New Year. It’s also a focus on the bangs, bottleneck bangs to be exact, says one celebrity stylist. These bangs are shorter in the middle and curve outwards, having longer pieces hitting just right at the cheekbone.

Will you be sticking with classic styles or following any new trends? For me, I am keeping my eyebrows the same and holding on to maxi dresses. However, the 90’s smudge makeup is something I will be trying!
