It’s the holiday season and it’s our time to shine!

It’s our opportunity to impress everyone from co-workers to our boyfriend’s parents. With holiday parties abound keep reading to have your most impressive season yet.

Stick with the tried and true

Take the classic advice if you’re bringing a dish to an event or serving others never try out a new recipe. If you do want to bring something new, practice the recipe beforehand. This advice can cross over into other aspects as well—like don’t try out a new hairstyle or makeup look. Rather, stick to what you know works for you.

Keep it simple, don’t overdo it

If you’re having people over don’t over plan your event. If you are having a bigger event or something a bit more intense than a simple dinner don’t be afraid to enlist some help. An overwhelmed host is worse than an under planned event.

Be a listener over a small talker

A tactic used in networking is to let the other person in the conversation talk about their self and their accomplishments while you listen and am engaging questions. Genuinely listening to someone else not only flatters the person you’re conversing with but it can also give you great insight. We live in a selfish culture.  By giving someone your full attention opens up the opportunity for you to learn something from someone else’s experiences. It also makes you extremely likable.

Handle failure with grace

There’s a strong chance something is going to go wrong. However, it is not the mishaps that will be judged but rather how you handle the issue.

Remaining calm while you figure out a solution is key. Depending on the situation humor can be used to lighten the situation. Do what feels comfortable with your personality and the situation.

Be yourself

Sure, you could pretend to be someone that is likable to the audience you’re entertaining but unauthentic people are easy to spot. It’s better to be yourself, playing up your best qualities so that your personality shines.
